Gadgets and the Welcome

This is a test of the Gadget for "Text." If this is placed at the top of the blog, it should stay in that location. This is a good way to post your Welcome statement and have it stay in place instead of floating to the bottom of your list of posts. You may rearrange the location of these gadgets on your blog page.

Instructions follow:
Go to the Layout tab in your blog. Click on "Add a Gadget" in the box below your title. This opens a new window with a list of Gadget options. Scroll down to "Text" and click on it. When the "Configure Text" window opens fill in as desired. "Save" and check your results.

To change the look of this element once it is created, go to Layout-Fonts and Colors. Choose the element you wish to edit and then select the color or adjust the size up or down.

Note: To left align text, see the blog posting below.

Left aligning text

This fix was posted by one of my students:

So, there is no alignment button for your text within the blogger.com website editor. However we can get around this problem by using a few easy HTML codes. In order to add an HTML code to your text first just type in the text you want to post like normal. (The format that this defaults to is called Rich Text). Second you'll need to click on the blue Edit HTML link within the edit box. This will change the look of your text slightly within the edit box and may even add some code if you changed the color and so on. It's here where we can do a little editing. In order to left align your text just copy

at the very beginning of your text. That's it! Now your text should be left aligned when you hit save. For a few more common HTML codes that can be used the same way follow this link:
